It is really important to start reading to a child as soon as possible. This not only helps to develop the child, but also provides an opportunity to find common interests with a baby, make some common actions and establish warm emotional relationships. Read only those books that you like. Choose truly works of art – thanks to them reading will become a pleasure for a child. A baby begins to listen to the first song, nursery rhymes, poems and look at the images in books already until he is 1 year. At this time, he is more interested in tone and rhythm of a poem. Then he will start following the events of a story. Do not be afraid if a child does not understand something. You should answer only those questions that are asked by the child in the course of the story!
Read with expression, changing tone, depending on what the character says. Ask your child to retell even small excerpts from your reading or complement you on the course of the story. Stop at the most interesting moment and make a pause. Try to read in a quiet place. Remove the sight of baby toys, and other items that distract him, and, most importantly, do not distract by yourself. If you feel that the book is not interesting or does not match the mood of today, set it aside.
